Morocco has to be one of the most exotic holiday experiences in the world. In one country you have the heady scents, sights and sounds of the souks, the majestic Kasbahs with their secret histories, the grandeur of the snow-capped Atlas mountains, a windswept Atlantic coast, astonishing beaches and the mystery of traditional nomadic life lived out around the oases of the desert lands in the south.
There is so much to see and do in Morocco that once captivated by its magic, people return time and time again. It can be difficult deciding where to start, so we have focused on two locations - Marrakech and Essaouira - that will provide you with great bases from which to explore the country. We strongly recommend a few days in each location (they are less than two hours apart by car) to experience a little of everything Morocco has to offer. In Marrakech you'll find color, hustle & bustle, exciting souks, narrow alleyways, great palaces. In contrast Essaouira provides a relaxing combination of seaside port and beach holiday - and a slightly cooler climate which is just what you need after a few days in the heat of Marrakech.
